Maintenance Matters- Maintenance Week 2024

As part of this year’s Maintenance Week activity, two evenings of presentations and a short walking tour are on offer.

Maintenance Week is an annual opportunity to take stock and think about the needs of traditional buildings. At a time of high fuel prices and construction costs, it has never been more important to ensure that buildings are performing at their very best.  Regular maintenance can save thousands of pounds in the long run.

In this year’s events, Craig Wilson, a lecturer in Building Surveying at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture & Built Environment, will talk about common maintenance issues.

We are grateful that Under One Roof’s Mike Heffron will be participating again in 2024. Under One Roof was established in 2020 as a charity to support owners in tenements by providing an independent point of contact for advice on building maintenance, tenement management and retrofit.

Lila Angelaka of Historic Environment Scotland will be presenting to the Trust on Energy Efficiency Upgrades and Retrofit for Traditional Buildings.  Historic Environment Scotland has been carrying out research on energy performance of traditonal buildings and how to improve them for many years.

Dr Gordon Watt of Morning Glass Designs will cover leaded glass and both he and Sian Loftus will provide a personal reflection on projects they have carried out.

The Trust is grateful for the support of Aberdeen Solicitors Property Centre in putting on its 2024 events.
