Regularly and after heavy rain or stormy weather look for loose, slipped or missing slates/ tiles or signs of holes, splits and tears on flat roofs, which can provide water with a route into the property.

Inside check in the attic, loft or roof space for leaks. Where necessary take appropriate remedial action.
