Caring for our Common Heritage

As part of this year’s National Maintenance Week activity, presentations and a short walking tour are on offer.

National Maintenance Week at the end of November,  is an annual opportunity to take stock and think about the needs of traditional buildings.

The Trust is delighted to have Under One Roof’s CEO Mike Heffron coming to Aberdeen to give presentations on the evening of Friday 7pm 1 December 2023 at the Salvation Army Citadel followed by a short walking tour on the morning of 2 December at 9.30am from the Castlegate. Under One Roof was established in 2020 as a charity to support owners in tenements by providing an independent point of contact for advice on building maintenance, tenement management and retrofit. Many of the maintenance issues have parallels with traditionally constructed solid wall buildings of any type.

Aberdeen City Heritage Trust’s Chair Craig Wilson, a lecturer in Building Surveying , will be on hand to talk about common maintenance items. An opportunity will be provided for owners to ask questions during both events.

Fuller details and tickets for both events are available and must be booked via Eventbrite via the following links:

1 December 2023 7.00 pm Caring for our Common Heritage book here
2 December 2023 9.30 am Heritage and Maintenance Walk (1 hour) book here

As the nights draw in this is a great opportunity to focus on the needs of our traditional granite buildings and ensure that they are working as they should.
