Heads up for Heritage!

EVENT FULLY BOOKED Walking tour to highlight Aberdeen’s urban design, granite architecture and building maintenance

A free walking tour for up to 15 people has been organised by the Trust for Sunday 26 March 2023, at 2pm starting from and returning to the Mercat Cross in Aberdeen’s historic Castlegate.

Craig Wilson, a Building Surveying lecturer at Robert Gordon University and Douglas Campbell, both of Aberdeen City Heritage Trust will point out some of Aberdeen’s key C19th historic developments as a city, its architecture and how by looking up, we can begin to “read” both the architecture and building repair needs of traditional granite buildings.

Trust Chair, Craig Wilson said:

The 90 minute walk will highlight Aberdeen’s rich city centre architecture and point out maintenance items to look out for on traditionally constructed masonry properties. Keeping buildings wind and watertight is a good starting point to improving thermal performance and saving money on energy bills plus avoiding expensive repair bills in the future.

Places are limited to 15 attendees. Further details of the event and tickets (which must be booked in advance) can be obtained at Eventbrite .
