Injection of funds for iconic main street

28 Feb 2017

Aberdeen's Union Street has been awarded £1.2m by Historic Environment Scotland as part of its Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) Initiative.

Funds will form part of a £2.4m pot which will be used to lever further investment in the repair of the outstanding architecture lining Union Street. The scheme will run for five years and will complement comprehensive long-term improvements being delivered through the Aberdeen City Centre Masterplan.

The 2016 bid for funding was supported by Aberdeen City Heritage Trust, Aberdeen Inspired and Aberdeen City Council and recognises the important role which heritage plays in conservation-led regeneration of our historic town and city centres.
