Regeneration takes a major step forward with half million City Heritage Trust grant awards

26 Apr 2016

The fortunes of properties in Belmont Street, Exchange Street, Huntly Street, Marischal Street and Upperkirkgate have been given a major boost and are benefiting from some of the Trust's £500,000 Historic Area Regeneration funds.

Douglas Campbell, Trust Project Officer said:

Heritage has an essential role to play in regeneration. Although the funding made available to-date marks a key stage in the regeneration, we are also keep to support repairs to Union Street properties, which are at the heart of Aberdeen. Applications can potentially attract as much as 50% of the cost of agreed eligible repairs. We would be happy to discuss opportunities for supporting repairs with owners and lessees.

Grant applications will be considered by the Heritage Trust's Directors where traditional roofs, joinery or mortars are in need of significant attention or have reached the end of their lives.

Historic Area Regeneration grants operate until March 2018 or until funds are exhausted. For more information visit www.aberdeenheritage.org.uk or contact 01224 522755
