£7,500 support for Broadford feasibility

31 Jul 2014

Aberdeen City Heritage Trust has offered support of £7,500 towards feasiblity study work being carried out by the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust to identify a new use for the Grey Mill at Broadford Works.

The industrial complex represents 40% of the Aberdeen structures featuring on Scotland's Building at Risk Register and is the greatest concentration of A Listed Buildings at Risk in Scotland. The Grey Mill of 1808 is the oldest iron framed mill in Scotland and the fourth oldest in the world. The complex provided generations of Aberdonians with employment.

Regeneration of the Grey Mill has the capacity to stimulate redevelopment of Broadford Works, bringing life back to these important structures.

Other feasibility funding partners include First Construction Ltd (the owner), the Architectural Heritage Fund, Historic Scotland and Aberdeen City Council.
